Make 2020 a Special Year by Sponsoring a Child

Sponsoring a Jerusalem Hills child is a special kind of giving that creates a relationship that can lead to real and lasting change. It not only provides the satisfaction that comes with improving the health and well-being of a specific child, but it delivers a special opportunity to witness young lives lifted over time. Through child sponsorship, two lives are changed forever: yours and the life of your sponsored child.

This year we have 100 children in our care in 8 groups at the Jerusalem Hills Children’s Home. With your help we can make 2020 a special year for them. Sponsor a child by giving a monthly donation and help us insure the child’s rehabilitation. 

The Kubia – Bank Mizrahi

In 2015, a group of employees from the Jerusalem branch of Mizrahi Tefahot Bank began volunteering at the Children’s Home. Since then, the group, nicknamed the Kubia, has been accompanying the Arbel group (boys 11-14). Every few months, the bank employees meet with the boys in the group and together they enjoy various activities, sometimes on campus and sometimes leaving the campus grounds. The constancy of their activities means that the boys have gradually begun to let their guards down around the volunteers and have built up a strong relationship with them. For our boys, the fact that a group of people from outside the home invest so much time and effort in getting to know them, makes them feel that there are people in the world who care about them too. We would like to thank the group from Bank Mizrahi for their effort and dedication.

Joining the Hapoel Jerusalem Family

Three years ago, Hapoel Jerusalem's youth department offered to create a basketball team at the home, which would be coached once a week. Since then, Hapoel has been coaching the Children’s Home’s basketball team regularly. This year a group of 15 boys and girls from the junior unit and a group of 12 boys and girls from the Ofer group (fourth year) are playing basketball. The 2 teams, which are sponsored by Bank of Jerusalem, meet once a week on the campus basketball court. Recently, the participants received basketball uniforms and are now officially part of the Hapoel Jerusalem family. During the year, the teams will play against other Hapoel Jerusalem's youth department teams. We hope that all the young players will conquer "the field" on a personal and a group level. We would like to thank the youth department of Hapoel Jerusalem and Bank of Jerusalem for their sponsorship and support.

Cooperation with the Darna Rehabilitation Center

Recently, we hosted the therapeutic and teaching staff of Darna, a Non-Profit Educational Rehabilitation Community, for a seminar at the Jerusalem Hills Children’s Home. The seminar included a lecture on our unique treatment method “Therapy in Life Space” and meetings with the therapeutic and teaching staff of JHTC. The founder and director of the Darna boarding school, Tomer Bouhadana, is himself a successful graduate of the Jerusalem Hills Children's Home.
