Children's Home School

The Children's Home school, serving students between the ages of 7 and 14, is a special education institution recognized by the Israel Ministry of Education.

School program

Individualized instruction based on the national curriculum and tailored to the specific needs of each child. A therapeutic program to accompany classroom-based studies that features a personalized combination of art, music, occupational, pet-assisted and other therapies.

For the Junior Unit, a full extracurricular enrichment program that includes training in photography, carpentry, electricity, cooking, handicrafts, and other hobbies and vocational skills.

Security, stability and continuity

The children of each unit both live and study together for the average four-year duration of their stay. Each residential-study unit has three special education teachers, who work directly with the children and their care-workers and psychologists. The 14 children of each of the four Children's Units enjoy the spaciousness of two classrooms. This enables teachers to team teach the entire class or to work with small groups or individual children.

The incoming group of 14 boys and girls (ages 7-8) attends its classes in facilities removed from the main school building. This division provides the youngest children with a comforting environment in which to develop self-confidence and coalesce as a group before entering the main school.

Specially trained, highly skilled teaching team

The RTC's special education teachers are experienced, skilled professionals dedicated to helping each child build confidence, independence and self-esteem on the road to academic and social mainstreaming. In order to help our teachers cope with the stress generated by the demands of our education-treatment program and to maintain the teaching team's level of excellence, the Children's Home provides every teacher with two weekly planning and counseling hours facilitated by the other members of our highly experienced psychology and education team.

Computer and Learning Center

The school operates a widely emulated, state-of-the-art computer learning center, equipped with a wide range of software programs, applications, and internet projects for both teachers and students.

School Library

The school's well-stocked library and award-winning reading program are designed to encourage curiosity, self-expression, research skills and, above all, a love of reading. The students enjoy tri-weekly library sessions that expose them to a broad range of literary works. Additionally, once a year a renowned children's author visits the school and has a direct interactive meeting with the children who first read his books and study his writing style.

Environmental awareness

Ecological awareness and recycling are important components of the school study program and activities.

The school has also won several prizes in the Environment Protection Week contest sponsored by the Ministry of Education, over the past years.

Pedagogical Resource Center

The Pedagogical Resource Center, created by the school's principal and counseling staff well over 15 years ago, provides the school's teachers and therapists with all the essential materials and services required for the innovative and independent development of teaching tools, learning aids and texts. The Resource Center provides an added dimension, beyond the syllabus of the Ministry of Education, to meet the unique needs of the children at the Home and the accumulative experience and professional knowledge of the teaching staff are sought out by other special education facilities in Israel.
